How We Are Funded
It is a Buddhist tradition for monks and nuns to be supported through donations. For millennia, monks and nuns have practiced and transmitted the Dharma. They dedicate their entire lives to this practice, having left behind their families, relationships, careers, hobbies, possessions, and other worldly attachments. In return, they are supported by the populace through donations.
Generosity (Dana) is an essential component of Buddhist practice.
Our Miao Fa Center aims to uphold this Buddhist principle. All offerings at the center are free of charge. Everyone should have the opportunity to participate. Your donation supports the establishment and maintenance of the center and Wassermond Monastery, the livelihood of the monks and nuns residing there, and all activities offered. We do not have a large organization or a “mother monastery” in the background supporting us.
Generosity brings inner joy to oneself. Giving is more valuable than receiving.
The Miao Fa Center can only exist in this form with the generous support of many people.
We are a non-profit organization and are happy to issue donation receipts upon request.
